Well well...Sorry for being so late with this update on Pari..
It has been close to a year that I wrote my last blog on Pari. She just crossed her 4th birthday on 2-Jan-2012. She is studying in Presidium School Dwarka and is in Nursery Class. Her next session should be in April 2012 when she would move to KG.
1. She has picked up a keen interest in music and dance and has recently been enrolled for Dance Classes (Bollywood/Freestyle), twice a week on Tue and Thu. She comes home and enacts out the dance she has learnt. She is picking up quite fast and we love to see her dance, specially the way she swings her waist from side to side. All this in the first month of joining the dance class!! We hope to see more of this skill getting developed in the time to come. Her instructor says, she has potential, and is amongst the youngest students in his class.
2. I love the way she hums along with the latest Hindi movie songs. Sometimes, she has the uncanny knack of identifying the song within a few seconds of it being played. These are all the new songs, of some even we at home are not aware of!
3. She has some deeply rooted artistic talents. Be it painting and coloring, she is improving day by day. She has drawing books filled with abstract art which are basically random shapes filled with pastel colors, crayons and water colors. She also loves to fill in colors in shapes and human figures and she fills them quite neatly, well within the lines! She spends a lot of time with her building blocks and keeps creating houses and hut shapes. The most recent one she made was "Courtyard Marriott" hotel with a swimming pool as well. This was a hotel we took a free 2 day stay in sometime back this year.
4. She insists she does her homework herself. If Pooja writes something on her notebook on her behalf, she would rub it out and write it herself. These days she is going over small alphabets in school and word sounds. They have also started with small words like pot and pan etc, which I think may be too early for a kid in Nursery!
5. She is a complete girl package. She has to be dressed the prettiest when going out with family on weekends. She also insists on makeup being applied - right from nail paint, Blush-on, eye shadow, lipstick to a pretty hairstyle. She loves her long hair and admires herself in the mirror often. When asked how long her hair is, she would bend her neck backwards so that the hair appear longer to us - then she would prompt us to touch her "Long long hair"!!
6. Now, a note on what she needs to improve on - Jealousy! She cant stand it if anyone else is praised in front of her. For example, if I say "Pooja your dress is looking beautiful" she would say "No, My dress is beautiful" Hence NO ONE can praise anyone else's hair, dress or makeup etc. when she is around. We guys cant even call any other baby "cute" in front of her because she says, "No, I am cute!!" Hopefully this feeling should get better in time - others tell me it's a growing up thing.
7. In food, she loves chicken from KFC, "Aaloo Ticky" Burgers and Fries from McDonalds (accompanied with the McDonalds Happy Meal Toy) and Paneer (Cottage Cheese).
8. She has great visual recognition ability. While she still does not know much about word formation, she can make out a KFC logo, a Cadbury Logo etc when she sees one on a signboard or on a T-Shirt.
Since detailed blogs take more time to pen down, I will ensure smaller blogs going forward but at sooner intervals. They could be a para or two, but at least I will not miss out on smaller but memorable events that are happening in her life and her growing up years.
Till later...
Regards
Varun
